XLPE is suitable for voltage ranges from low to extra high voltage, surpassing other insulation materials such as PVC, Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) and silicone rubbers. Cross-linking the polyethylene also enhances the chemical and oil resistance at elevated temperatures and makes it suitable for use as a Low Smoke Zero Halogen material.
Improved water-tree resistance is another benefit of XLPE insulation for LV cables and MV cables over PE insulations. Water treeing is a defect which is the result of imperfections in the insulation where fracture lines occur and grow in the direction of the electric field, increasing with electrical stress. It should be noted that this effect is not limited to PE materials.

Using features:
XLPE/PVC insulated electrical wire are covering series of wire products, and its working temperature isdifferent according to different insulation materials, mainly 70 and 90 degrees temperature, etc.
According to the conductor type, including solid conductor PVC/XL .PE insulated electrical wire,standed PVC/XL PE insulated wire, Flexible PVC/XLPE insulated wire with different colors.
According to its shape, including flat wire, round wire, etc. with different colors.
Accoding to its core number, including single core wire, multi-core wire, etc. with different colors.
The highest allowed operating temperature of conductor for long-term working is 90oC. In short-circuit(Max. Long-term is no more than 5 seconds). The highest temperature for conductor is no more than250.
D.C Resistance of the conductor complies with the stipulations of GB/T3956-1997.
The environment temperature should be no lower than 0 when lay. Otherwise it should be preheated.The cable is laid without horizontal drop limit. The Min. Bending radius of three core cable should be nosmaller than 12 times of cable outer diameter.
Partial Discharge Test: The discharge volume should be no more than 10pC under 1.73Uo for the cable.
