XLPE Insulated Cable


XLPE insulation of medium voltage power cables below 30 kV with XLPE insulation has very good electrical, mechanical and thermal properties in medium voltage networks. This insulating material has excellent chemical resistance and also has cold resistance. Due to various advantages, the XLPE insulation type has greatly replaced the traditional traditional paper insulation type in many fields. XLPE insulated medium voltage cables are designed to be longitudinally waterproof. Compared with PVC and paper insulated cables, XLPE insulated medium voltage power cables have the advantage of low dielectric coefficient. The good performance of XLPE insulated cables remains constant over a long temperature range. These cables can be laid on the ground, in the air or in pipes.

Cable installation
To avoid damage, XLPE insulated medium voltage power cables should be carefully placed and installed. It must be ensured that the cables are not pulled over hard or sharp edges. The end of the cable must be sealed and waterproof. After cutting the length, both ends must be sealed immediately.
The recommended installation depth is 60 to 80 cm. Single-core cables are usually arranged in a trilobal or triangular shape.
For installation in ducts, the heat insulation effect of the air space between the cable and the inner wall of the duct should especially be considered. The inner diameter of the conduit should be at least 1.5 times the diameter of the cable.
